I Think I made an old Chevy.

The Materials are: Sheet copper (with a natural age patina), Lacquered Cherry wood, Stainless steel sheet, and some Bondo with copper infused epoxy as a finsh.

I built it around a sweet little chassis designed for a microATX motherboard. It's only got 2 small drive bays and 1 large bay.

It's compact, as can be seen here on a desk beside a 19 inch monitor.

As a friend who was watching me use it remarked, I've finally got a computer that can keep up with me!
I put in a 1.2Ghz AMD Thunderbird - very snappy, and quite affordable.
The main problem is noise. Mostly, It's this Seagate ultra ATA 100 hard drive, which makes an nasty grinding buzz, but there's also 3 fans in it. Part of the problem is that the HD bay is integral with the chassis, so the noise gets transferred out. I have built some foam rubber and some thick corrugated cardboard into the panels, which does muffle it quite a bit. Rubber feet also help.

It even kind of sounds like an old Chevy!
if you put your ear against the top, the combination of all the spinning things in there makes a loping rumble, kind of like a big V8 at idle.
